The New Urban Roswell website strives to help bring about a discussion on how New Urbanism and Smart Growth can help the city of Roswell and the Atlanta region become a happier, healthier and more prosperous place to live, work, learn and play. We hope that we can help empower Atlantans to make more informed decisions on where to live, shop, eat and play so that we can all have a smaller footprint on our environment.

Michael initially became interested in the New Urbanism after architect and long time friend, Cody Patton of Patton Architects, turned him on to the book Suburban Nation written by Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk and Jeff Speck. After initially reading the book in 2003, Michael's eyes had been opened to a growing trend. The book influenced his thinking in other areas and he branched out to look at the overall green movement which was just gaining significant momentum at the time.
Michael decided to start blogging about green themes and started the Green Gaggle blog. This blog eventually took the form of several other names and has ended up as New Urban Roswell. All of the old posts for the Green Gaggle, Efficiency Solutions and Green Peaches are still on this website (if you search hard enough).
Michael is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU), the Southface Institute and the Sierra Club. He is currently working on his CNU Accretidation which should be complete in late 2010.
